Role Overview

As a volunteer Embedded Systems Engineer at Jcoteck, you will work on:

  • Real-world hardware development

  • Hardware + software integration

  • Writing tutorial-style documentation for the Jcoteck blog

  • Contributing to the educational side of the company

You will collaborate with a team, build production-grade projects, participate in reviews, and work under supervision.

Minimum Requirements (Project-Based Experience Required)

Applicants must have practical embedded systems project experience, including experience with one or more of:

Microcontrollers / Boards

  • Arduino (UNO, Mega, Nano, etc.)

  • ESP8266 / ESP32

  • Raspberry Pi (Zero, 3, 4, Pico)

  • STM32 (optional)

Skills & Tools

  • Basic C, C++ or MicroPython programming

  • Circuit design basics (breadboard or PCB-friendly)

  • Sensor integration (ultrasonic, PIR, DHT, MPU6050, etc.)

  • Actuators (servo motors, DC motors, relays, solenoids, etc.)

  • Serial communication basics (UART, I2C, SPI)

  • IoT basics (MQTT, WiFi, HTTP API) — optional but helpful

Experience Required (Not professional, but practical):

  • Must have built at least 1–5 embedded/IoT projects

  • Ability to debug basic hardware issues

  • Ability to write simple, clean embedded code

  • Ability to document your work clearly (important!)

Not Required:

  • Professional engineering experience

  • Advanced electronics theory

  • High-level PCB design expertise

  • Heavy math or advanced signal processing

Core Responsibilities

As part of the engineering team, you will:

1. Build Real Hardware Projects

  • Develop embedded systems and IoT devices

  • Integrate sensors, actuators, controllers, and wireless modules

  • Test, debug, and refine the systems

  • Work with developers and UI/UX designers to integrate hardware with software platforms

2. Contribute to Jcoteck’s Educational Ecosystem

You will:

  • Build beginner-friendly tutorial projects

  • Write well-explained, step-by-step documentation

  • Publish to the Jcoteck Blog under supervision

  • Make tutorials understandable for new learners

  • Explain wiring diagrams, code, and logic in simple terms

3. Team Collaboration

  • Participate in weekly engineering meetings

  • Work remotely with a structured task system

  • Get mentorship, reviews, and guidance

  • Collaborate with a diverse tech team (software, UI/UX, robotics, etc.)

4. Testing & Deployment

  • Perform hardware tests

  • Assist with demo preparation
